This needs to be updated with a better and more up to date literature review as there is more positive stuff out there now than when I wrote this.

Needs some substantial work to combine the two posts together. Also there were some excellent comments on these posts and other commentary around the web which should be folded in if possible.

This needs to be substantially re-worked to make it link to the previous essay which would make a nice flow.

This ones needs some significant work but it seems like a good lead into later pieces such as the Wikimania post. Bring it up to date and look for some more recent work by Marina. Also potentially relevant connections to more recent work by Nic Suzor, the root strikers campaign of Larry Lessig, pieces on informed consent by @wilbanks and others.
